Carmela A. Somma Iovene of 216 Quinnipiac Ave. in North Haven died July 24, 2010 at Laurelwoods. She is the wife of John Iovene, Sr. Carmela was born in New Haven June 12, 1928 to the late Pasquale and Anna Avitabile Somma and had been a tailor at Congress Pants for many years. She is the mother of John (Carol) Iovene, Jr, and Richard Iovene. Sister of Ann Amodio, Theresa Kycia, James "Doc" and the late Louis Somma. Grandmother of Brittany Lyn and Anthony Iovene and Michael Calcagni. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a niece Janet Somma and a nephew Andrew Iovene.
Funeral from the IOVANNE FUNERAL HOME, INC. 11 Wooster Pl. Wednesday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael's Church at 10. Burial in All Saints Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5-8pm.
