Edith Kanoff Sweeney of Woodward Avenue New Haven died July 26, 2010 in the Grimes Center. She was the wife of 58 years to William Sweeney, NHFD retired. Edith was born in New Haven a daughter of the late Edmund and Edith Farren Kanoff and was a reservation clerk at Connecticut Limo for over 30 years. She is the mother of Shirley (Andrew, NHPD) Gamberdella and Sharon (James) McNamara. Sister of Bernard Kanoff and the late Shirley Sondergaard, John, Edmund and George Kanoff. Grandmother of Andrew (fiancee Jacqueline DeNardis) Gamberdella Jr., Marissa Gamberdella, James McNamara Jr., and Colin McNamara. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Edith's family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the Grimes Center for their care.
Funeral from the IOVANNE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 11 Wooster Place Friday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 10. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery.
